choosing night to crash

Question:

hi dorsi im here if ya want. forest

Response:

Why do I choose to crash at night, when I can’t call on any one for support. It seems it almost never fails. I can’t hang with myself at night and not bring myself down. And it’s not anyone else, it’s just me doing it to me. I guess it is the ultimate betrayal…                         Dorsi

Two thoughts: 1)  Sometimes I think that the isolation/loneliness of being up at 3 am     brings on a crash….the whole "I’m all alone, no-one cares" thing. 2)  *you* are not doing it to you…your *depression* is doing it.  You     can’t help it and are *not* to blame. leslie — So I’m a loser, baby, why don’t you kill me?      – Beck

I don’t think you can choose the time to crash.  It’s not up to you. Evidence:  You crash at night, when there’s no one to call. And who’s to say you can’t call (or email) anyone?  You’re probably not the only one up late at night (early in the a.m.). Take care. Sam

Response:

I know what you’re going through. In fact, I’m going through it right now. As I write this, it is 2:30am, and the only thing I really want to do is die. Since this is AOHell, I look into the depression chat rooms that people have going, and I try to get out how and what I’m feeling. All I seem to meet(with a few exceptions) are people who tell me that I’m just feeling sorry for myself, that I need to "Cheer up!", that I’m being selfish. And all of this just makes me want to end it even more. And all of this seems to only happen at night.  I think Leslie’s pretty much on the money with her reasons, but it still doesn’t help. :(

Response:

I agree with both of Sam’s points, and add:
If you have seratonin deficiency, you are more likely to crash
at night, as sun-rays, sort of a "seratonin transmitter", are
not around at night.
Regarding the e-mailing-time issue, please do not forget that
e-mail unites people from all over the world, and it may be an
entirely different time of the day/night for someone linked
from far away. I, for one, read and chat with you from Turkey.
I don’t know where each one of you are, but I know for example,
that when it is noon here, it is 5 a.m. in New York, 2 a.m.
somewhere in California, and 9 p.m. in Tokyo, if I am not
miscalculating. Just try if you crash at night, and keep your
fingers crossed about when your server will respond.
Hope you are better by now.

Nights are always the worst — lying in bed with nothing but my own fucked-up thoughts to keep me company AND keep me awake!  So I usually just turn on the TV and watch and watch and watch nothing.  Or else I pop in a CD.  Eventually I get to sleep.  Then I have to wake up inevitably unrefreshed with sore eyeballs which try them damndest to push me back into bed. But I can hardly plop into bed in the late afternoon without zonking out for 3 or 4 hours!  Wee!  Of course, getting to sleep at night after a late-afternoon nap is damn near impossible… 2am 3am 4am when am I gonna sleep? I’ve never been able to fall asleep easily at night.  Not even on stupid meds.  Naps yes.  Night of restful sleep no. I need a 25 hour day with my bedtime at 3am and wake-up time of noon. That seems to be my natural rhythm.  Sunrise is waaaaaaaay overrated. Phooey. — For more information about this service, send e-mail to:
