No, I’m afraid you didn’t get it right. There’s this text in the Bible where Jesus says he had come to rule by the sword. I’m wondering what it means. Include whatever you want in your explanation, I didn’t ask you not to.

Those who believe the Bible is all about God’s Love for us will ignore all the hatemongering stuff, and those convinced the Bible (or Koran, or what have) justifies our hatred of others will ignore all the Sermon on the Mount stuff.

The Old Testament was clearly written as a vehicle for Charlton Heston.

Yeah…Like, Christ only apears in the New Testament part…The intro is almost as bad as a Stephen King novel for how slow before any really interesting, pertaining stuff relating to the title happens, where the first few thousand pages is a gathering of violent and sexual stories, and of power trip… Nothign anyone ever cared about for sure;-). And it shows the author is not decided yet on any character or plot before it gets to the NT. Where it drops lamentably right after that part, too. And if everyone can recite the first sentence of the book they never read, while adjoining others tor ead it, who on earth remembers the last sentence at all?
Me thinks maybe one day we will see that those books were left behind from a (future) time travel in the past, and were the rejected writings of some hollywood weekly series, written by improvised series-writers when the original writers were gone on holidays.

That’s a heap of bullshit, sorry for the language. Have you read the Bible? Do, and you will send Christianity far away from you, never wanting to get near it again.

You can interpret it in many ways. If "being saved" means "being aligned to/integrated with reality", it kinda makes sense to me. >Save you from what? From his father (which is himself)?
No, from eternal separation. Or so i’ve heard. I mean, if that were physically possible, i really wouldn’t like the idea. Eternal separation would mean hell, as far as i’m concerned. But from what i understood, is that this has become impossible because of Christ. I just think this is interesting and i want to know what is meant by it. From a taoist pov, all of this is meaningless because the whole idea of eternal separation simply doesn’t exist there. In taoism, reality isn’t personified. It’s too abstract for that. That’s why i like it. In christianity, reality (God, universe) gets a personality, an identity, which is Christ. What bothers me about christianity is that it looks to me somewhat preoccupied with authority, hierarchy, domination. As in, you HAVE to believe this or that / submit to the will of this or that, or else. Yeah. You just have to believe it. That’s because the whole story about God saving you is fake. Nobody with one working brai cell believes it anyway. Save you from what? From his father (which is himself)?

This is actually quite easy here in Spain, as Jesus is a fairly common name round these parts. However, I don’t think having a relationship with someone called Jesus would be prima facie any more effective as a cure for loneliness than having a relationship with, say, a Juan or a Manuel or a Jose Maria. I’ve actually always felt sorry for the Jesuses here in Spain, since every time someone sneezes, their name is repeated by everyone in earshot ("Jesus" = "Bless you"). It must be quite confusing.

do you mean "Jeeee-Zus" or "Hey-Suess"?
