Question:

You may be quite right about Szasz, he is a rather important political thinker, and also about Breggin. I have read Breggin’s book Toxic Psychiatry and it had a similar affect upon me, I also speak from experience. Response:

Within some States within Australia the truth is not a defence in an action for defamation. All that is required is to prove that someone’s reputation has been damaged. Although this may indicate how highly criminals are held in esteem – eg Alan Bond – it is  a throwback to a society built on convicts who had served their time and, as ticket of leave men or emancipists could build a new life for themselves free of any judgement associated with their original crime. Response:

Not that you care, but. . . cults prey upon people who are mentally ill, because we are told that we are destined for loneliness, which is why there is such a large amount of writing from Breggin and Szasz. . . Response:

Szasz and Breggin lumped together?  I think not.  Szasz is an original thinker; Breggin is an opportunist (my opinion).  Check this out first. http://mentalhelp.net/pni/pni41e.htm – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Not that you care, but. . . cults prey upon people who are mentally ill, because we are told that we are destined for loneliness, which is why there is such a large amount of writing from Breggin and Szasz. . .
